In order to prevent excessive heat build up, the surface laminate also features a clear PMMA layer which acts primarily as a heat reflection layer.
PMMA is a poor conductor of heat which means it slows heat transfer through the laminate. It also has a high refractive index, allowing it to reflect a significant portion of solar radiation rather than absorbing it.
Finally PMMA has moderate thermal emissivity, meaning it can re-radiate absorbed heat back into the atmosphere, aiding in passive cooling.

Our proprietary coating technology is also formulated to offer superior chemical resistance compared to other polymer or paper based laminates. In a series of 7 key chemical resistance tests, tested in accordance with EN 12720, the AB Shield surface laminate achieves the maximum rating of 5/5. Chemicals tested include: acetic acid, citric acid, coffee, disinfectant, ethanol, sodium carbonate and tea.
