Anti-Bacterial Coating Technology

The anti-bacterial properties are derived from an ultra matt clear surface coating which contains a silver ion biocidal additive which is activated when it comes into contact with humidity or moisture. This technology kills surface bacteria by disrupting the cell division process and therefore prevents proliferation of bacteria. The coating technology is proven to kill more than 99% of bacteria within just 24 hours.

Tested bacteria include*:

Staphylococcus Aureus ATCC 6538P
Escherichia Coli ATCC 8739
Klebsiella Pneumoniae ATCC 4352
Salmonella Enterica ATCC14028
MRSA ATCC 33591
Listeria Monocytogenes ATCC 7644
Enterococcus Hirae ATCC 10541

Waterproof & Wear Resistant

Many anti-bacterial panel products are laminated to standard timber based substrates such as plywood, MDF or gypsum board which can actively absorb moisture and propagate bacteria and fungi. AB Shield uses a fully waterproof foamed polymer composite core to guarantee a long service life regardless of contact with water or even full water submersion. The internal structure of the waterproof core has excellent screw retention properties and canbe fabricated using standard woodworking tools - making it ideal for cabinetry
manufacturing.

Storage & Preparation

AB Shield should always be stored horizontally on the pallets supplied with the goods to prevent bowing of the panels. The panels should not be stored outside or in areas of extreme heat or cold.

Prior to further processing it is recommended that the sheets be acclimated in the area of fabrication for at least 24 hours

During transport, pallets and sheets should be carried in a way that avoids unnecessary bending.

Care & Maintenance

AB Shield can be cleaned easily using a damp cloth, warm water, and a noncorrosive mild cleaning detergent.
